Why Digital Forms?
Digital counseling forms are such a huge time saver for me. They are easy to use and I’m able to get a quick summary of results and data versus trying to calculate things up. Another reason I am for Digital Forms is because I can see my information on any device. For example, if I’m working at home or need to look something up in the car. I always have it with me!
What Are Digital Forms?
The digital forms I use and recommend are through Google Forms. These are the easiest forms to use, at least for me! Digital forms is basically like digital note keeping, a way to collect information that you might want to turn into data or keep for your records. You are in complete control over what data you want to collect and how specific you want to get with the information you collect.
So, instead of writing things down and filing them away, you can use digital forms to quickly collect, use and share information. However, I don’t share everything from my digital forms. I really like how Google summarizes the information that’s input on the forms. They put it into nice charts and graphs. I can easily share pictures of those instead of raw numbers and without giving identifiable information.
Which Forms are Helpful?
Personally, I’m a counselor who is caught in between old-school paper and digital files. ๐ I absolutely love my planner, which is completely paper and has not made the leap to digital… YET. ๐ So, if you are a paper planner… check out the Simply Perfect Planner for School Counselors.
But, the digital counseling forms I use have helped me tremendously and have allowed me to save a TON of time! Here’s a list of digital forms I use…

How do I get Data From Forms?
Each digital form, aka, Google Form is an individual form within your Google Drive. There is an editable version for you to change. Once you have it the way you need it, you can click on the button in the top, righthand corner that looks like an eye. This is the preview button. It will show you what your form will look like to others. Then, you can either use that preview link, or click the share button and share the link with others. If you are using the form for yourself to fill out. You can easily take that preview or share link and drag it to your desktop to have easy access.
Once the information is filled into the form and you are ready to get the data. Go back into your Google Drive and find the form. At the top of the editable version, you will see a tab that says responses. This is where your data will be stored. You can look at the Google Summary with the charts or you can click on the three dots to the right and choose to export it as a excel or sheets document.
