I am so excited to sit down and write this blog post because I feel this is something extremely useful and can be used right away! So get comfy and be ready to take notes!
One of the most rewarding things about running this blog is collaborating with all of you! I get several emails on all sorts of topicsโฆ such as making lessons more fun and engaging! I was super excited to open my email one day to find a message from howidecide.org. If you have not come across this site yetโฆ you must check it out! Anyway, they wanted to collaborate on getting the message out about their new resourceโฆ HabitWise! I was in no way affiliated with this program or paid for this review. It’s just amazing and I wanted to help get the word out!
Here is an overview of this incredible programโฆ
- HabitWise is an in-class program which teaches students to make and manage healthy habits and break unhealthy habits
- HabitWise is composed of 7 lessons, which include animated videos to introduce the new material to students, guided practice handouts,ย discussion prompts, optional extension activities, and a culminating project-based lesson
- There is also a detailed Instructors Guide
- The topics covered are productivity, health, money management, and relationship habits
- HabitWise is most suitable for 7th-10th-gradeย students
- Oh, and did I mentionโฆ absolutely FREE (for now!)
Who can you use it with?
After signing up for a free accountโฆ I was able to have access to all these materials. For me personally, I was able to take the animated videos and plug them into my Leader in Me Lesson Topicโฆ and teach them to my elementary students! I know the program says itโs mainly for 7th-10th-gradeย students, but I can see it being useful in so many more areas! Just being able to tailor it to my needs was perfect!
If you work with Middle School or High School students, this would be more beneficial because it gives activities and discussion points to do. If you were to take one or two topics a month, you would have a full set of detailed lesson plans already done, to last you a few months! Absolutely Free!
Program Set-Up

The photo below shows the layout. You will see the video first, then you have the student worksheet and the teacher guide to go along with it.
The photo below shows the Teacher’s Guide. As you can see, it is very detailed and well planned out. There are seven complete lessons… planned out like this! Pretty amazing, right?
The website howidecide.org currently has four programs HabitWise, GM Genius, Mindful Choices, and High School Explorer.

Go now… sign-up… you will not regret it!
High School counselors who find it hard to get into the classroom… try and collaborate with another teacher such as Health, English, or History. You might be able to double up on some standards by using this program and both of you benefit!
Hope this helps!
