Let’s just face it, having a new perfect planner to start the year, is so refreshing and sets you up for success!
I found myself doubling the work I needed to do. I was constantly writing sticky notes and lists, not to mention, on top of the lesson planning and scheduling I was doing. It was so hard to keep up with everything. That is why I created The Simply Perfect Planner for School Counselors. It is made by me… a school counselor… for YOU! Therefore, I know how hectic things can get… I want you to be as organized and stress-free as you can be!
What’s Up with This Planner?
I started out with a version of this in my Teachers Pay Teachers Store, however, I was limited on what I could do because it was only a print-and-go version. Some people love the flexibility of this because you can take out or add what you need in your binder.
I really like things to be neat and organized, so instead of printing mine out, I prefer to buy it bound and ready!
So, if you’re like me and need it all bound together… I have found the perfect match! Lulu.com is a Self-Publishing site where you can purchase the already… completely… put-together planner, in a spiral-bound book! The pages are thick and durable. I used mine all year and at the end… it was amazing to see how much work got accomplished! So much data and examples of improvement I could show my principal. Let’s just say… she took my data to the school board! Yay!
Prove Your Data-Driven Program
This planner houses all your data for the entire year. There are spaces for individual, small-group, standards, action-research planning, and lesson plan data and notes.
Ultimately,ย the most important feature of this planner is the very detailed Time Task Collection! After all, it’s very easy to use… just like a normal schedule… except you will have data to show administration where you spend your time each day, week, month, and of course your entire year. I like to make counseling stats each semester for my principal and I use this data! Super Easy!
It has built-in instructions on how to code each part of your day. It’s as easy as writing out your schedule and putting a time task code next to it!
Three Ways to Bring Organization to Your Life
You can find The Simply Perfect Planner inย three different options!
Version 1 – My very first planner! It’s a more modern design and less fancy clipart on the inside. There are bigger spaces to write the schedule. Inside there are zero pre-printed dates. So, you can use it when you need to. The monthly calendar is a one-page spread for easy writing. This planner is only offered as a bound and ready option. Click here to access version one.
Version 2 – This planner is an update from Version 1, however, the structure is still the same with more clipart and cute graphics. Inside there are zero pre-printed dates. So, you can use it when you need to. This planner still gives you a one-page Monthly Calendar and offers an Action Research Guide as well. This planner is only offered as a bound and ready option. Click here to access version two.
2023-2024 Simply Perfect Planner – This planner has been fully updated for the year 2023-24! Like the other planners, there are zero pre-printed dates inside, however, the cover reflects the year 2023-2024. The monthly calendar has been updated to a TWO-PAGE spread for more room to write. The daily Time Task Analysis Scheduler has also been updated to 15-minute blocks with more time slots throughout the day. This version will be updated yearly and available on Teachers Pay Teachers and as a print and bound version. Click the link to view more.
Happy planning!

I stumbled on to your blog via Pintrest, and I was energized by reading the posts. As a veteran counselor, I am always looking for new ideas to assist me in the field. I loved your curriculum checklist post.
I was also excited to read the post on data and plannning. After reading the post, I clicked the link to purchase three planners for myself and counselor friends to use this year.
Thank you for the insight and recommendations.

I am a new 504 aide/ case Manager Iโm wondering have you seen or do you have anything for my organization means Iโm not yet exactly in it more than a month but I want a folder or binder planner or I can keep all my information because Iโm currently keeping and caring around a gazillion notebooks !
Simply Imperfect Counselor says
Hello! Thank you for reading my article and taking the time to write! At my school, we have a Sped Director that takes care of all the 504s and IEPS. So, I have never looked for anything specifically related to that. As a school counselor, I needed something to manage all my lessons, individual students, and groups. I created my planner specifically with school counselors in mind.

I love the planner you created!
I was wondering if you had a list of what counts for each TTA code? I see you have some examples but I was hoping for a definition of each code.
Simply Imperfect Counselor says
Hello Jade! Thank you so much! Here is an article explaining it in more detail. https://simplyimperfectcounselor.com/quick-guide-the-school-counseling-program/ I hope this helps… and thanks again for reading!

Hi! I just wanted to make sure before I bought the planner this year that it will be updated for 2019-2020? Especially the calendar piece! Thank you so much!
Simply Imperfect Counselor says
Hello Dawn! I completely understand! I actually created it with that in mind… there are no dates in it! You get to decide when you start using it! ๐

Just bought mine through Lulu today! So excited and scared about my VERY FIRST year as a school counselor for a school that has never had one!!!!
Simply Imperfect Counselor says
Mila, Thank you so much! How awesome! Congrats on your first year… how exciting! Also, WOW on being at a school that never had one! You will be a very big asset to them!
Maria says
Are there any pages for recording meeting times with individual students? I love a lot of the organization that your planner brings together and want to know if I can use this as a way to consolidate the different planners/journals I keep.
Simply Imperfect Counselor says
Hey Maria! Thank you so much for reaching out and asking! I usually write the students initials into the schedule portion of the planner. For example, if I meet with Johnny for the next four weeks at 10:30. I would write his initials into the 10:30 slot each week, for 4 weeks. Then there’s a section each month for things to remember. That’s where I like to keep my running list of individual check-ins. That way I know who I saw during each month. I did not include a section on individual student case notes, for confidentiality reasons. ๐ I hope this helps answer your question! I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog! Thanks again! ~ Jessica

Is the Version 2 still bound? When I click the link, it looks more like a hardback book. I just want to make sure I can still flip the pages back.
Simply Imperfect Counselor says
Thank you for asking! Yes… it is a spiral bound planner. For some reason the Lulu platform doesn’t differentiate their preview pictures. It will come looking like the pictures in this blog post! Thanks again and Happy Planning!
Niesha says
Thank you for including a TPT version. I’m excited to plan for the new year with new organization tools. The bound version would be easier, but after shipping and such it comes out to $40 for the lowest shipping. I can’t afford that right now, so again thanks for the printable version.
Simply Imperfect Counselor says
You’re very welcome! I wanted it to be available in multiple ways for whoever could find it helpful! Thanks for your kind words!
